Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions that are not answered here or if you would like clarification on any aspects of a massage session. We like to tell people, the way to get the best massage is simply to communicate with your therapist.
A) No, for us, the time you choose for your massage is the amount of hands-on time you will receive. We will schedule enough time to talk about your needs and expectations of the session. Please note that this is only guaranteed if you are on time for your appointment.
A) If you are more than 10 minutes late you may have less hands-on time so that we can end on time and be able to prepare for the next client. Please call or text as soon as you know you will be late.
A) Comfortable clothing is always best to wear to a massage appointment mainly because it's also what you will be putting back on after the appointment. However, if you are coming from work or happen to be wearing something less than comfortable, that is absolutely fine.
For a standard massage you will be asked to undress to your comfort level. For many people this means disrobing completely, especially if massage needs to be done in areas where clothing will get in the way. Proper, professional draping techniques will be used to ensure your privacy and comfort throughout the session. Many people choose to leave on their undergarments, that is absolutely fine as well. This will always be up to you, the client, to choose what you are comfortable with. We can work around clothing and will always have your comfort as our highest priority. Always speak up with any massage therapist if you are ever uncomfortable with any draping or techniques.
If you have booked a Neuromuscular Therapy treatment with Joshua we request that you wear comfortable, stretchable clothing to your session.
If you are coming in for a Reiki session with no massage then you should wear something comfortable as you will not be taking your clothes off and will be likely laying in one position for up to an hour.
A) We use massage cream for your massage. We use a brand called Sacred Earth Botanicals. It is a vegan, organic, hypoallergenic, unscented cream that feels wonderful on the skin. We have found that with having to put your clothes back on after a massage, cream typically absorbs into the skin nicely and doesn't leave you with a greasy feeling. If you would prefer oil, we have that as well! Just let us know if you prefer oil!
A) Yes! We love essential oils. We usually have diffusers going, and also like to use essential oils for inhalations throughout a treatment to bring your attention back to your breath. Please let us know if you have sensitivities to or just don't like any particular scent. As we get to know you we will make sure you always have a scent you love to help deepen your relaxation.
A) We believe the amount of conversation held during a massage session is completely up to the client. Many clients prefer a silent therapist in order to get completely relaxed. We have heard many complaints from clients about therapists who chatted their ear off the entire massage and left feeling less than relaxed. We understand that and will make sure that unless you'd like to talk, we will only ask you questions related to your body and the massage session. If you like to talk during your session, we are totally cool with that. Some people find it's easier to relax if they are able to maintain light conversation. Many times clients will talk just a little bit to get comfortable with the therapist/situation and then are able to relax and become quiet. There may be times when we ask you to take a breath and focus on where we are working to better assist in the healing process. Never feel like you have to be quiet or keep a conversation going. As with all aspects of our therapeutic sessions, it's all about your comfort!
A) No!! Our focus is deeper than your leg hair! Only shave if it makes you feel nice for the massage, it doesn't matter to us at all. Body hair should never be a reason to not get a massage.
We don’t currently offer a CBD massage but we are happy to use any CBD products on you that you would like to bring in. CBD is a natural, non-psychoactive component of the cannabis plant. It can help manage pain and inflammation and is great in aiding the healing process, especially along with massage.
Though tipping is standard in the service industry and always appreciated, because we are the owners of our business we want you to know that tipping us is never required. In general, if you go to a spa, a chain, or a business where the therapist is not the owner and is an employee of someone else, you should absolutely tip your therapist. Those therapists are not taking home the full price of the service and in some cases are not being paid very well. In that case the tips that the therapist receives are incredibly important to their income and sometimes, most of what they make.
In our business, where we are the owners and the therapists, we set our own prices to what we feel is fair to the service we are providing. As owners we are able to consider our costs and make sure that we feel we are being compensated for our time and overhead. It’s more important to us that you feel you can afford the services you need, so we only expect to be paid the price you are quoted. However, if you feel like your service exceeded your expectations and would like to leave a tip, we will graciously accept.
